Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has stirred up excitement among the XRP community by sharing a unique artwork featuring a melancholic chimpanzee donning a sandwich board with his favorite slogan. This artwork is a modified version of Banksy’s famous print, which is valued between $26,651 and $38,073.
The original artwork by Banksy showcases a despondent chimpanzee with the slogan “Laugh Now, but one day we’ll be in charge,” symbolizing society’s underdog and the hope for justice in the face of oppression. It was first displayed at a guerilla exhibition in East London in 2000 and later commissioned by a hip-hop club in the early 2000s. Banksy’s use of this expression signifies his transformation from a street artist to a political activist.
Garlinghouse resonates with the original message of the artwork, as it reflects the opposition and neglect faced by the XRP project in recent years. He considers it his all-time favorite from the XRP community and has proudly displayed it in his home. With the current market momentum, he felt compelled to share it with the XRP community.
In a separate post, Garlinghouse emphasized the two major market drivers this week: the SEC’s approval of multiple Ethereum ETFs and the passage of pro-crypto legislation by the U.S. House of Representatives, known as the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT21).
The SEC’s approval of eight Ethereum spot-based ETF applications has sparked hope for an XRP ETF in the future. However, there are concerns within the XRP community that the ongoing SEC vs Ripple lawsuit could impact the approval process.
As of now, XRP is trading at $0.5212, experiencing a 1.14% decline in the last 24 hours, a 5% decrease in the last 30 days, and a 17% drop year-to-date.
