Ripple Labs has introduced the XRPL EVM Sidechain to improve interoperability and boost DeFi and RWA tokenization.
Axelar has provided a strong cross-chain bridge for the XRPL EVM Sidechain, ensuring secure and efficient transactions.
Ripple Labs has made an exciting announcement that will significantly enhance the capabilities and compatibility of the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The launch of the XRPL EVM Sidechain, which brings Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility to the XRPL, is a highly anticipated step.
This new product will open up numerous opportunities for developers in real-world asset (RWA) and decentralized finance (DeFi) tokenization, leading to innovation and expanding the usability and reach of the XRPL network.
The XRPL EVM Sidechain features a bridge connecting it to the XRPL mainnet, with wrapped XRP (eXRP) as the native asset and gas token. This bridge ensures smooth asset transfers between the XRPL and the EVM sidechain, facilitating efficient transaction processing and interoperability.
The Ripple technical team is emphasizing user experience and security as top priorities with the impending launch of the XRPL EVM Sidechain. Axelar will be the initial bridge provider, known for its robust cross-chain bridge technology and large validator network, offering high efficiency and security.
By simplifying the token transfer process and consolidating to a single bridge with Axelar, the user experience is expected to improve significantly. This move aims to streamline processes and reduce complexities for users.
XLS-38 enables XRPL developers to create customized sidechains, catering to private chains or XRPL versions with unique capabilities not available on the mainnet.
Ripple’s engineering team plans to closely monitor the adoption and interest in XLS-38 over the next 12 to 15 months, making adjustments based on developer feedback and community input to ensure XRPL remains a reliable platform for tokenization and asset exchange.
In other developments, Ripple has introduced the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund to support blockchain innovation in these regions, demonstrating its commitment to the global blockchain ecosystem.
Ripple is actively engaging with developers to drive innovation and meet the diverse needs of its users, solidifying its position as a leading blockchain platform.
